May 2021

Our May was busy and fun! Take a look:

We started the month with Autumn's senior pictures photo shoot.  She had a lot of fun and we got way too many cute pics.  Here are just a few of our favorites:

We took another trip to Thanksgiving Point's tulip festival, this time on a sunny warm day with the entire family and each of their plus ones. :) We enjoyed the flowers, warm sunshine and company.

Seth celebrated his 21st birthday and Delaney asked me to help her recreate Seth's 5th birthday party, which was a jungle safari theme since it was Seth's all time favorite birthday ever.  We had so much fun recreating the party and surprising Seth with a safari themed party for all of his friends. :)

I was pretty proud of recreating this ugly alligator cake - it looks pretty much identical to the one I made for his 5th birthday. :):) I don't think I have much of a future in cake decorating.

We spent much of the month redoing our office.  Here are some before pics (Unfortunately, I forgot to take pics before we had moved much of the furniture out of the office)

First we moved Bryce's office computers to the basement where he spent the next few weeks working from the ping pong table, with a little help from Frankie and Delaney's cat Blaze, who we were watching for a few days.

Meanwhile, we repainted the walls and ceiling and had the carpet in the office replaced with hardwood floors to match the kitchen:

Then we had built in cabinets, bookshelves and desks installed, added a comfy reading chair and some new wall decor and voila - we LOVE our new office space!! It has become the favorite room in the house.

Autumn had her final dance performance EVER as her performing dance company did their last show of the year.  It was amazing and Autumn proved herself as beautiful a dancer and choreographer as ever and there might have been just a few tears shed during the Senior dance where Autumn danced with all of her best friends for the last time. So many memories of dance with Autumn and it's bittersweet to see this chapter of her life close. It has been a joy watching her on stage and seeing her great love of dance and talent grow.  It was especially wonderful that both her Grandma Ririe and Grandpa Finch made the journey to be here for her final performance as well as some local cousins, Aunts and Uncles and friends who also came to cheer her on.

Seth proposed to his girlfriend Delaney and they are officially engaged!! The wedding date is set for November 19 and we are so excited to add Delaney to our family!! I need to get a better pic of the engaged couple...

The kids decided they needed to go to the newly reopened Space Camp (which they all did when they were in school) as a family before Megan and Mitch move to Idaho in June, so they booked a mission and worked together to successfully win their space mission and return home to earth.  From what I hear, it was a total blast. ;)

The end of May was full of graduation celebrations for Autumn.  We are all soooo happy that group limitations and mask mandates were done away with just in time for her to be able to have a "normal" month in May.  She tells me it is some of the best memories of her life.  First off was the end of year dance team banquet:

Seminary Graduation:

Autumn and Grant planned seminary graduation together and conducted the graduation meeting. They both did a great job!

Senior Lagoon day:

Graduation Day!! Autumn's graduation was held outdoors at the Rio Tinto soccer stadium in Sandy.  Those poor graduates sat in the polyester robes in full sun through the entire graduation and Autumn was hot, parched and so happy to be gathered with all of her friends to celebrate all of their hard work.  Way to go, Autumn - we are so proud of you!!

That's it for May - what a month!!
