October 2016

October started with Devin and Megan coming home for General Conference weekend, which is always awesome. Kim, Tim and Sam Holloway flew in from Temecula, CA to take in a few of the Conference sessions live and we loved having some time with them as well. We went up to the canyon on Saturday in between sessions for our traditional canyon picnic - beautiful!

Seth and Autumn both spent some time up the canyon with their friends this month taking in the gorgeous weather and beautiful scenery.

Seth went to Sadies with his good friend, Grace. Their group dressed as greasers for the dance and even went to a 50’s diner for their dinner. Seth had an awesome time, but he didn’t like any of the pictures they took, so here’s one of him and his date, Grace, on a different day:

Autumn celebrated her 14th birthday, and one thing she really wanted was to get her hair cut and colored with a melt, so the Saturday before her birthday, she went to the salon accompanied by her good friend, Anna, who loves to do hair and wanted to watch the whole process. Here’s a before and after:

On Autumn’s actual birthday, we surprised her by having a bunch of her girlfriends sneak in to our house early for a surprise birthday breakfast before school:

After school, she went to dance and then straight to YW, where we got to welcome her as the newest Mia Maid:

The day after her birthday, we went to the hospital to meet her favorite birthday present, Rowan Buttars. Rowan is the new baby son of Autumn’s favorite cousin Jessica and Ben Buttars. Autumn was beyond excited when he was born on her birthday and couldnt wait to meet him.

We also had a family dinner that evening before heading to Seth’s choir concert. Autumn was so excited to have another chance at cake, especially with this candle I found that pretty much exploded in a ball of fire before spinning and playing “Happy Birthday” - I love Autumn’s face:

Megan, Devin, Seth and Autumn went to Lagoon together for their second annual “Siblings Day at Lagoon” during their Fall Break from school (except for Devin who doesn’t get a fall break from school, so he just played hooky for the day). They all had a blast and I loved getting texts throughout the day with pictures showing me how much fun they were having:

We had choir concerts for Seth and Autumn, which were both awesome!

Autumn was selected by her dance teacher and fellow dance team members to be one of the students to choreograph an entire dance for their spring concert. She worked hard all month figuring out her choreography and teaching it to the 9 dancers in her group. It's a contemporary piece set to the Beatles song "Yesterday" and Autumn is proving herself to be a good choreographer as well as dancer. She has loved doing her own choreography and loves developing another talent.

Megan and Devin continue to do well at USU and BYU. They are doing well in their classes and having too much fun to come home very often. We love that we get to talk to them all the time and see them when we can. :)

We carved pumpkins and Autumn made us pumpkin chocolate chip cookies since she had carved her pumpkin earlier with her friends.

We celebrated Halloween. Autumn dressed as an alien with some of her little alien friends:

Seth dressed as a cat, complete with cat socks and cat shoes:

He’s a little obsessed with cats:
