April 2016

April was another exciting and fun (and rainy, wet and mostly cold) month at our house. Take a look:

Autumn finished up the dance competition season with winning queen solo in her jazz elite solo category as well as a best costume and judge’s choice award. She also had a really great final team competition, as well as making her Jr. High dance team for next year. More than 70 girls tried out for only 12 spots on the team, so Autumn was excited to make the team! Now she has recitals and auditions for next year for her competitive team coming up in May. The dancing never stops around here.

We enjoyed an awesome General Conference weekend with both Megan and Devin at home. Devin was lucky enough to win two tickets to the Sunday morning session through a random drawing by his Bishop, so he and Megan went together and really enjoyed seeing one of the sessions live.

We took Autumn and Seth to Disneyland for their Spring Break and had such a blast together! We came home way more exhausted than when the break started, but we really enjoyed our time in the parks! My sister Kim lives in Temecula, CA and she and her husband and son came and joined us for one day of fun and that was so awesome for us. It was a really fun vacation.

Devin had an exciting final month of his Freshman year at BYU. He had a Phage Conference with students from Gettysburg College where they presented their phages to each other and also did some fun activities up Provo canyon. He was published in an online journal as the person who discovered his phage, which is named after him. Meet DevRi at nearly 350,000X magnification:

After finishing finals, Devin moved back home to work until he leaves on his mission. He and I celebrated with a visit to the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point and then he headed up to Logan to spend the weekend with Megan and his friends at USU.

Autumn also had a dance photo shoot, which her studio does for their company dancers each year. She loves seeing what she can do dancing. Here are a few of our favorites:

Seth took the ACT for the first time, continued to work hard in school, registered for classes for his Junior year, and was inducted into the NHS.

We had visits from my sister Kathi and her husband Rod (in town for their daughter in law’s graduation from BYU) and Tami and Anders (in town to move Anders back to Provo). We love having people come visit us!

We ended the month with a weekend trip to Logan. On Friday evening, we were treated to a concert put on by the Utah State LDS Institute Choirs entitled “Beautiful Savior”. It was so well done and fun to watch Megan and the other choir members share testimony of the Savior through song and spoken word. A really great evening for us!

We got up early on Saturday morning to attend the Logan temple with Devin, Seth and Autumn going to do baptisms while Megan, Bryce, Crystal and I did an endowment session. We spent the rest of the day playing together. Megan took us ice skating and showed us the things she has been learning in her ice skating class at USU this semester. That evening, we attended an ice skating show that included Megan and her classmates showing off their new skills. It was lots of fun and a great way to finish the month. Now Megan just has to finish finals this week and then she will be moving home for the summer as well.

That’s it for our April! May promises to be just as busy and exciting - tune in next month! :)
