January 2016

We started the New Year with traditional chalupa with Jeff, Debbie and family. This year we had a special treat by having Grandma and Grandpa Ririe visiting us as well. We celebrated with yummy food, games, and putting together a puzzle of the number Pi that Megan picked up at the Museum of Math in NYC that we have been avoiding. With everyone’s help, we were able to get it completed!

Megan was super happy to move off of her liquids only diet and to find out for sure that her second jaw surgery was a complete success and she is done with jaw surgeries! Happy day! She will have her braces on for another 4-6 months while they perfect her bite and then this will all be a distant memory. Megan says it was definitely all worth it and that biting into foods and having them break apart never gets old, not to mention all of the added room in her mouth.

Our Ford spent the entire month in the repair shop as the damage ended up being more extensive than they initially thought and they had to order more parts and blah, blah, blah. It should finally be finished this week, at which time we will swap our repaired Ford for our wrecked Suburban which has some damage from a lady slamming into us when she did a u-turn right into us. Not a good month for cars at our house.

We took Seth and Autumn and a couple of their friends to a BYU basketball game and had fun cheering the Cougars on to victory.

We had Autumn’s dance team over for breakfast one Saturday during a break from classes. These 13 girls are so fun and Autumn has really loved her team this year.

Autumn also kicked off competition season by competing her solo as well as all 5 of her company dances at their first competition near the end of the month. Autumn did an awesome job on her jazz solo and her team looks really good, too. It’s going to be a good year of dance competitions, and Autumn loves every minute of it! :)

We had fun having little ones come to visit. I babysit a couple of my friend’s little boys every week for a few hours and it’s so fun to remember how sweet and uncomplicated little people are. We also watched my nephew’s little girl overnight, which was fun for all of us. She’s a sweetheart!

Bryce and I spent a fun day skiing at Sundance. The second time for me was definitely better than the first time, and I only crashed a few times. One of those times was when Bryce stopped to get a picture of me skiing down the slopes and I thought it would be fun if I got really close so he could get a close up. I did get close, running right into him. :)

Skiing down towards Bryce...

The nice picture of the trees he took as I ran into him...

and me on the ground. :)

Devin came home from BYU to take a friend of his (Kenzie) to the Girl’s choice formal dance at Lone Peak. He also found out that the phage he discovered last semester and sent out for DNA sequencing is, in fact, a unique organism, which is so super cool and means that he will be published in a microbiology journal alongside his professor. It’s quite a big deal and he’s super excited about it!

We went to the Provo City Center Temple open house, and it is amazing how they were able to maintain the old feeling of the tabernacle in this beautiful temple! We had some extra tickets to the open house, so Megan brought several of her roommates and friends from Logan as well and Devin brought his friend Emily, too. Bryce made breakfast for everyone before we went to the open house - it was a fun morning! I love these people!!

Group hug :)
