April 2013

We started April with our Spring Break, but stayed close to home this year since Megan was away at school and we are using all of Bryce’s vacation time later during the summer months.  We had a great break from school, and visited some fun things around home as well as spending time cleaning and organizing the house (which the kids LOVED!)  Here are some pictures of us visiting a Lego art exhibit in Park City with some of our friends.

On April 5, Megan went through the temple for her endowments.  It was a pretty amazing and humbling and slightly surreal experience.  Very cool.

We had a great time having a bunch of our family over to have dessert and play “Dance Dance Revolution” on the Wii.  We stayed up way too late and laughed way too hard, and it was tons of fun.  We love our family!!

Seth had a few track meets and continued to improve each one.  He qualified for the district meet in the mile, 800 m and 4 X 400m relay, which takes place today and tomorrow.  He has improved a ton through the season and loves to go for hard workouts.  He is definitely our runner. :)

Autumn and I went on the 4th grade fieldtrip out to Camp Floyd on what must have been the coldest day on record in April – it felt like January.  But we still managed to have a fun time learning about the early pioneers in that area, despite our frozen fingers and toes. :)

Autumn finished up her dance competition season in great form and is now getting ready for her dance school recital and company auditions for next year.  That girl just can’t get enough dance and has decided that she wants to audition for ballet company as well as jazz company, which she has been doing for the last few years.  We’ll see how auditions go later this month.

554875_147404662097491_731936990_nDevin finished up his fencing tournament season with a team fencing competition and awards banquet.  He is improving all the time and getting more aggressive, too.  It’s been fun learning about fencing, how it is played and how it is scored.

Bryce and Seth went on another backpacking campout in the snow – I think they are ready for some warmer camping and hiking weather!

While they were suffering in the cold, Devin, Autumn and I drove to Logan for Megan’s all Broadway choir concert.  It was really, really good and fun to see Megan for a little while. :)  She is taking her last final today and will be moving home this Thursday – happy day!  She has had another great semester at Utah State and is a little sad her freshman year is already coming to an end.  Here are a few pics with her and some of her friends.

Autumn took 3rd place in the school spelling bee – she worked really hard and was so excited to be in the top 3, especially since the other 2 were 6th graders.  She also won 2nd place in the 4th grade Arbor Day story writing contest, which we had no idea she had entered until she told us she had won second place. :)  You’ll have to have her read her story for you the next time you see her – it’s pretty cute.
