May and June 2023

May and June have gone by in a blur, which is probably why I forgot to do the blog for May. :) Here is a quick update on the family:

Celebrated Mother's Day by building this cute lego set of the Up! house that Devin and Levi gave me

Also celebrated by having Mitch, Megan and Evan come to town for a visit (always love time with them and with our favorite little grandson).  Megan and Mitch went to St. George for a few days in May to celebrate their wedding anniversary and left Evan with us and we loved having time with him. He is the happiest and sweetest little guy.

We went on several hikes with Seth and the other kids joined us for a few hikes when they were around. We love that Seth invited us to go hiking with him on Saturdays through the summer and have really been enjoying getting to see the beautiful mountains that are so green and full of wildflowers right now.

Delaney graduated from the U and Levi graduated with his Masters degree from Utah State. We are so proud of both of them!

Autumn continues to love her time as a missionary serving in the Waverly ward in Winnipeg.  She loves serving as an STL and getting to go on transfers with other sister missionaries. She loves to try to lift and help the other sister missionaries. She has also been able to use her ASL skills to translate for a deaf member of their ward and LOVES that. We miss her but wouldn't rather have her anywhere but where she is.

Bryce and I went to Loma Linda at the beginning of June for my sister Kim's graduation from nursing school.  It was such a fun weekend and I am sooooooooo proud of her and all of her hard work. It was such a joy to watch her walk in her cap and gown and I am really glad we went!

Bryce's mom suffered a stroke near the beginning of May and Bryce flew to Oregon to spend Mother's day weekend with her in the rehab facility.  After healing a little (she broke her ankle when she fell and lost use of her right arm), we were able to move her from Oregon to a care facility here in Utah where she is closer to more family. We are hoping she will make a full recovery soon and love that she is closer to us.

Bryce and I went to the temple together several times - we love to be in the temple together!

Bryce and I also went to another play at Hale Center Theater and, as always, really enjoyed ourselves!

Seth and Delaney traveled to the middle of nowhere to see the Sun Tunnels on the summer solstice.  This is an art installation where the artist has aligned the tunnels so the sun comes straight through during sunset and sunrise during the winter and summer solstice. They both loved it and said it was worth the sketchy drive in the middle of nowhere in pitch blackness to get there for the sunrise. :)

We sadly said goobye to the YSAs in Provo 158th ward that we have come to love so much over the past 2 years as Bryce was released as a counselor in that bishopric and 2 weeks later, Bryce was set apart as the Bishop of the Provo 159th ward. His setting apart was a pretty amazing experience and Bryce is adapting well to being Bishop Ririe and we are getting to know a whole new set of YSAs. This is definitely not a calling that Bryce aspired to at all, but he is willing to serve wherever he is asked to serve, so here we go. It is time consuming and emotionally a lot to deal with, but he is doing well. He is so grateful for the enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

The flowers in our yard this May and June have been SPECTACULAR!! Must be all the moisture from the winter and early spring.

I went to lunch with my best friends from BYU-Hawaii - Kim, Kristin and Jennifer. I also went on a crazy run down Provo canyon with Mari complete with flooded trails and landslide debris, but it was still amazing. And also had quilting days with Michelle. I love time with my friends!!

Megan and Mitch came back to Utah in time for Megan's 29th birthday and it was so fun to have everyone in the family except Autumn be together for that. Right now, Megan and Mitch have gone to Hawaii for a week and we get to watch Evan while they are gone and we are having so much fun with him!!

That's it for the past couple of months!!
