January 2021

Not too much of excitement happened in January, but there were a few highlights:

I started working with a group of 20 students in Central Africa as a BYU pathways missionary.  It has been an exciting adventure and I have learned a ton and am continuing to learn a lot each week. What I do know is that I already love our students and am amazed at their desire to learn, work hard, and better their circumstances through education. I am loving the work I'm doing as a pathways missionary!

Delaney stayed with us for a few days on her way back to the U from Christmas break since her dorm room wasn't quite ready for her. We loved having her stay with us and loved getting to play with her new kitten, Blaze.  Frankie took a couple of days to warm up to him, but by the end of Delaney's stay, the two cats could be in the same room without hissing at each other, so that's a win.

Devin got his diploma from BYU in the mail, so although he doesn't get to participate in a graduation ceremony, he is officially a BYU graduate!

Devin also got a new job working full time at Nelson Laboratories in Taylorsville. He's excited about his new job since it's full-time, good pay, good experience for his Masters program and plus he gets to wear these really cool clean suits whenever he works in the clean room. It was quite a process to be trained and to pass off suiting up without contaminating himself in any way. He got to bring home gear to practice at home before taking his suiting up test. :)

And here he is on his first day at his new "grown up" job. :)

January was mostly just really cold with no rain or snow, but towards the end of the month, we had a few good snowstorms that left our home covered in beautiful, peaceful whiteness. I love living somewhere that has all 4 seasons.

Autumn went to a Preference dance with Teddy and a group of friends from her dance team. They aren't doing dances at the school this year because of Covid, but they have done a couple of dances that students have put together themselves. I'm glad she can have a tiny bit of normalcy in her Senior year.

Megan and Mitch are still doing well in Logan. Mitch is enjoying doing his job remotely and they have been able to do some winter hiking, ice hockey for Mitch and skiing/snowboarding.  Seth is doing well in his second semester at BYU and is enjoying most of his classes. :)
