January 2018

January was pretty chill around here:

Devin finished up his time serving in the Via Verde branch in Paradise Valley and was transferred back to Phoenix, serving in a Spanish speaking branch that is literally blocks from the area where he spent the first 6+ months of his mission, and he is SO happy to be back in Phoenix and back on a bike full time. He continues to be one happy missionary and we love him!

Autumn went skiing once early in the month with her friends and Bryce and I went once using his work ski passes, but that's been it for the skiing for our family this season - we have had so little snow and it's been super warm, so not too great for skiing. (Though I'm not complaining about the warm temps - it's awesome!)

Autumn started having severe pain in both of her knees about midway through the month of January. We finally went to the doctor to discover that both of her knees were swollen, especially her right knee, so she spent the rest of the month in a knee brace for her right knee, doing a lot of icing, compressing and home physical therapy exercises while she took a couple of weeks completely off of dance (though she still had to go and watch all of her dance classes - boring!). After 2 weeks, her left knee was fine, but the right one had not improved much, so she went in for an MRI, which came back normal.  She is starting physical therapy with a PT doctor and just barely started dancing just 2 hours a week to practice her competition pieces with her team since their first competition is in 2 weeks.  Her knee is better, but still painful, so we are hoping the PT helps it heal completely.

Her team had a pre-comp performance for parents that Autumn wasn't able to dance in, but she was still there to cheer her team on.  She is ready to get back to full time dance!!

Autumn spent quite a bit of time babysitting this month.  She is such a cute babysitter and is all of our little nieces and nephews favorite person to play with. :)  Here she is with Raeleigh, my nephew Brandon's little girl:

Megan has such a busy semester! Working as a TA for one of her professors, working in a speech lab, working in the writing center as a tutor and also helping usher events for the Fine Arts department on top of a full load of classes - whew! She is happy and still manages to find time to have some fun - here's a pic of her and Crystal going to a 20's themed party:

Seth sang in a Masterworks choir concert with all of the top choirs from high schools across the region and the concert was pretty amazing!  He is loving his year of Chamber Choir and looking forward to going to NYC next month!

Seth is on the front row all the way to the right - this is just a small section of the huge choir - they sounded amazing!!

Seth also went to the girls choice formal dance at Lone Peak with his best friend, Sophia, and they had a great evening together.

My sister in law, Mia, officially became a US Citizen and my dad fulfilled another item on his bucket list by going to the ceremony. Yay Mia!!

I had my first quilting accident when I sliced off the tip of my forefinger. It was painful as it healed, but is doing fine now.  Let's just say I learned a lesson about keeping fingers far away from rotary cutters. :) I have pictures, but I'll spare you. :)

Happy February everyone!
